Background

Changing Lives Kent CIC was set up in October 2013 by Val Conway as a social enterprise and community interest company. The mission of the company is to offer employment, training and mentoring opportunities for disadvantaged and socially excluded people trying to rehabilitate back into society through a viable business. The catering and hospitality opportunities arise from "Oh Crumbs".

Val has vast experience working as a specialist chronic pain nurse within the NHS, in offender units, substance misuse units and alongside mental health teams and social services. There is a common theme, in that funding and support are available for when people are in crisis and/or need support within a specialist team at the beginning of their rehabilitation. However, as people work towards independence there is very little in the way of support and or employment. Changing Lives Kent CIC aims to offer opportunities to disadvantaged groups but only after assessment and multi-disciplinary team review. Individuals have to be motivated and ready for change and commitment. Val has an experienced team and a track record of achievement and success in her projects both socially and at work. She has a passion and unlimited enthusiasm to develop people to their full potential.
